Montgomeryshire Status

An apparently uncommon species found in the western half of the county, with just a few scattered records. However, this day flying species may be a bit more common than figures suggest, due in general to under recording.

Wingspan :  M, 26-29mm. F, 24-26mm.

Confusion species

Cistus Forester, Scarce Forester.

Flight time (Montgomeryshire)


Favours open habitats.


Common sorrel and sheep's sorrel.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a part grown larva near the base of the foodplant,. Larva July-early May. Pupates just under the soil surface.
