A fairly common species throughout the county. Sometimes found in good numbers.

Wingspan :  M & F, 34-40mm.

Confusion species

Northern Spinach.

Habitat

On moorland and other upland places, but can also be found to a lesser extent in lowland fens, marshes, heathland and woodland.

Foodplant

Sallows, creeping willow, aspen and poplars.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as egg on foodplant. Larva May-June. Pupates between spun leaves on the foodplant.
