A fairly common species which is often confused with the Common Marbled Carpet, therefore is somewhat overlooked.

Wingspan :  M & F, 32-40mm.

Habitat

Mostly a woodland species but is also found in heathland, moorland, scrub and gardens.

Foodplant

Birch, heather, bilberry and sallow and the leaves of many other woody plants.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as an egg. Larva April-June. Pupates among plant debris.
