Due to its moorland habitat this species is rarely recorded, but will probably be more common than the records suggest.
Wingspan : M & F, 30-38mm.
Heather, bilberry and sallows.
Overwinters as an egg attached to the foodplant. Larva mid April-late May. Pupates beneath the soil.
