UK Status Resident. Local S,C(N). Montgomeryshire Status A local and rare species. In recent times it has only been recorded at two sites in the west of the county. Wingspan : M & F, 20-26mm. Confusion species Barred Carpet, Heath Rivulet. |

  Habitat Mainly on chalk downland, also found on open waste ground. Foodplant The ripening seeds of red bartsia and occasionally eyebright. Lifestage data Overwinters as a pupa underground, sometimes up to 5 years. Larva Aug-Oct living inside the seed capsules until too large, then living on the plant. |
