Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2014 at Commins Coch in the far west of the county. It would seem that this species had been previously overlooked and is likely to occur in most places with rank vegetation. Since then it has been recorded at a few other scattered sites across the county.

Wingspan :  M & F, 15-18mm.

Confusion species

Common Pug and Lead-coloured Pug.
Flight time (Montgomeryshire)

Habitat

Seems to occur in a variety of habitats, but especially damper places.

Foodplant

Common Valerian.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a pupa, in the debris on the ground. Larva, July-mid August.
