Generally a scarce species but is found locally common in the Llanfyllin area in the north of the county.

Wingspan :  M & F, 17-21mm.

Oak-tree Pug.

Habitat

Moorland, grassland and gardens.

Foodplant

Mainly juniper, but also found on cypress and red cedar.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as an egg attached to the foodplant. Larva April-early June. Pupating in a flimsy cocoon among the pine needles.
