Resident. Nat. Scarce B S,C,W.

Montgomeryshire Status

A 'Nationally Scarce B' species. A generally scarce species recorded in very low numbers, mainly in the southern half of the county. However, on the upside, we do have a very healthy population at one site, Dolforwyn Woods Nature Reserve, near Newtown.

Wingspan :  M & F, 24-28mm.

Habitat

Damp areas of woodland and hedgerows in well wooded districts.

Foodplant

Wych elm.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a pupa on or just below the ground in a cocoon. Larva late June-mid September.
