UK Status Resident. Common Montgomeryshire Status A common species, found throughout the county. With over 1100 individuals caught at over 50 sites, this is our most recorded species of Hawk-moth. Wingspan : M & F, 72-92mm. Confusion species None. |
Flight
time (Montgomeryshire)  Habitat Gardens, parks, woodland, scrub, heathland, moorland, riverside and fens. Foodplant Poplars, sallows and willows. Lifestage data Overwinters as a pupa underground. Larva late June-September. |
