Habitat

Most habitats.

Foodplant

The roots and shoots of a wide range of herbaceous plants.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a larva. Larva late July-April and occasionally June-August. The larva feed almost entirely underground and are known as 'cutworms'. Pupates underground.
