Wingspan :  M & F, 30-40mm.

Confusion species

Garden Dart, White Marked, Neglected Rustic.

Habitat

A wide range of grassland, but not at high altitude.

Foodplant

Mainly grasses, but also recorded on plantains and cleavers.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a larva. Larva September-April, feeding mainly at night. It forms a cocoon in the soil but does not change into a pupa for approximately six weeks.
