Montgomeryshire Status

A proposed 'Red Data Book' species. A very rare species, only recorded once in the south of the county at Llwydiarth in 1921. Now considered extinct.

Wingspan :  M & F, 47-52mm.

Confusion species

Silvery Arches, Reddish Light Arches and Large Nutmeg.

Habitat

Areas on light calcareous soils, such as scrubby grassland.

Foodplant

Foodplant hasn't been recorded in the wild, but larvae will accept various herbaceous plants in captivity.

Lifestage data

Unconfirmed. Probably overwinters as a larva. Eggs of reared specimens hatch in August. Pupates underground.
