A fairly common species that has been recorded thinly throughout the county.

Wingspan :  M & F, 30-40mm.

Confusion species

Campion, Barrett's Marbled Coronet and Pod Lover.
Flight time (Montgomeryshire)

Habitat

A wide range of habitats, mainly up to a mid altitude.

Foodplant

The ripening seeds of bladder campion, white campion, red campion and sweet-william.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a pupa in an underground cocoon. Larva late June-early August and September.
