UK Status Resident. Common S,C. Montgomeryshire Status An uncommon species, that only seems to be found in the north-east of the county. Wingspan : M & F, 44-52mm. Confusion species Starwort, Striped Lychnis and Water Betony. |
Flight
time (Montgomeryshire)  Habitat Mainly calcareous habitats. Foodplant Wild and cultivated mulleins, common and water figwort and buddleias. Lifestage data Overwinters for up to five years in captivity as a pupa in a strong underground cocoon. Larva late May-July, feeding in both day and night. |
