Habitat

Broadleaf woodland, scrub, hedgerows and other well wooded areas including gardens.

Foodplant

Hawthorn, blackthorn, crab apple, dog rose, plum, and rowan.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as an egg which are laid on the twigs of the foodplant. Larva April-June. Pupates in a strong underground cocoon.
