A fairly uncommon species, that has been recorded from just a handful of scattered sites across the county.

Wingspan :  M & F, 32-39mm.

Shears.

Habitat

Broadleaf woodland, hedgerows, scrub, gardens & some urban areas.

Foodplant

The expanding buds and leaves of pedunculate oak. Also probably on sessile oak.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as an egg (which are laid in small batches on the foodplant). Larva April-June. Then pupates underground in a cocoon.
