Montgomeryshire Status

A fairly common but, occasionally a less common or absent species, although it has been recorded through much of the county.

Wingspan :  M & F, 34-44mm.

Confusion species

Yellow-line Quaker, Dusky-lemon Sallow and Pale-lemon Sallow.
Flight time (Montgomeryshire)

Habitat

Broadleaf woodland, but also found in scrub, parkland and gardens.

Foodplant

Wych elm, aspen, poplars, sallows and ash.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as an egg which is laid beside the dormant buds of the foodplant. Larva April-June. Pupates in a underground cocoon.
