A rare species, recorded on just a handful of occasions, all on the eastern side of the county.

Wingspan :  M & F, 28-35mm.

Confusion species

White-spotted Pinion and Lunar-spotted Pinion.
Flight time (Montgomeryshire)

Habitat

Mostly in elm woods or other places where elm is still found.

Foodplant

English elm, small-leaved elm and wych elm.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as an egg. Larva late April-mid June. Pupates in a cocoon amongst old leaves.
