Confusion species

Cloaked minor and some forms of Tawny Marbled, Marbled and Rufous Minors can resemble this species.

Habitat

Mostly sites in calcareous habitats.

Foodplant

Grasses.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a larva. Larva September-early June, feeding on the roots and later inside the stem. Pupates in a slight cocoon in the leaf litter or under the ground.
