A former resident, now recolonising, rapidly spreading in a westerly and northly direction from the south-east of England.

Montgomeryshire Status

Colonist. First recorded at Commins Coch in the west of the county in 2021.

Wingspan :  M & F, 41-48mm.

Habitat

Broadleaf woodland.

Foodplant

Mainly aspen and occasionally other poplars.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as an egg. Larva late April to July, feeding at night. Pupates in a silken cocoon spun in leaves.
