Resident. Local in the south and north of England. A nationally scarce A species.

Montgomeryshire Status

Discovered in the far north-east of the county at the Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve in 2015.

Wingspan :   M & F 5mm.

Confusion species

Many species in this group are very similar. One of the best ways of separating them is to examine the type of leaf-mine.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Favours chalk downland.

Foodplant

Wild strawberry and barren strawberry.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva first forms a contorted mine, later a blotch. Pupates, spun in the soil.
