Resident. A local species throughout Britain, with quite a patchy distribution.

Montgomeryshire Status

Recorded infrequently from the western side of the county.

Wingspan :   M & F, 12-15mm.

Confusion species

Incurvaria masculella.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Wherever the foodplant is found.

Foodplant

Bilberry, dogwood and Prunus sp.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner/Case-bearing. Eggs laid on leaf. Larva forms a blotch near the leaf tip, a case is formed which falls to ground. Larva continue to feed, case is attached to ground where pupation takes place.
