Resident. A local species found throughout Britain.

Montgomeryshire Status

Discovered in the north-east of the county at Llanymynech Hill in 2017.

Wingspan :   M & F 10-14mm.

Confusion species

A fairly distinctive species.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Chalk downland, woodland clearings, boggy grassland and lowland bogs.

Foodplant

Devil's bit and small scabious.

Lifestage data

Eggs laid on the flowers of foodplant. Larva feed openly on flowers and later from a case. Pupates within the larval case.
