UK Status Resident. Widespread and locally common through Britain as far north as Perthshire. Montgomeryshire Status Two records from the west of the county, the last time from Lake Vyrnwy in 2007. Wingspan : M & F, 5-7mm. Confusion species Care should be taken, other species of Heliozela are very similar. |

(Univoltine?)  Habitat Wherever the foodplant is found. Foodplant Alder. Lifestage data Leaf miner. Eggs laid on young leaves. Larva mines from midrib and along a lateral rib, finally a broad gallery from which it builds a case, this is carried to the ground where it is attached. Pupa formed inside case. |
