Resident. Found throughout England and Wales to southern Scotland.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in the east of the county at Middletown in 2012. Since then several records also in the east have been added.

Wingspan :   M & F 7-8mm.

Other species of Leucoptera.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Wherever the foodplant is found.

Foodplant

Mainly hawthorn, but it has also been found on apple, pear, blackthorn, rowan, quince and cotoneaster.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf away from margin. Larva forms a circular blotch. Pupates in leaf litter in a spun cocoon.
