Resident. Widespread, but local and rarely common throughout the British Isles.

Montgomeryshire Status

This species has been found in the north of the county but hasn't been seen since 1987 at Lake Vyrnwy.

Wingspan :   M & F, 9-10mm.

Confusion species

Many species of Phyllonorycter are extremely similar, great care should be given when separating these species. It is often impossible to separate the adults of some species.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva forms a very large mine occupying the whole leaf. Pupates in a dull green cocoon within the mine.
