Habitat

Wherever the foodplant is found, but especially on downland.

Hawthorn.

Lifestage data

Shoot miner. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva overwinters in a spinning, then mines a terminal shoot in the spring. Pupates in a rough cocoon on the ground.
