Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2013 at Middletown in the east of the county. The first record in north Wales for twelve years.

Wingspan :   M & F 10-13mm.

Confusion species

S. passerella.
Flight time & Voltinity (Bivoltine)

Habitat

Wherever the foodplant is found.

Foodplant

Apple, pear and hawthorn.

Lifestage data

Web forming. Eggs on the foodplant. Larva lives under a web, feeding on the surface of the leaf. Pupates in a dense white cocoon on the ground or occasionally the plant.
