It is often impossible to separate the adults of some species. In some cases differences can be seen in various life stages.

Oak woodland.

Foodplant

Oak and sweet chestnut.

Lifestage data

Case-bearing/leaf miner. Eggs laid on the leaf. Larva first constructs a case then starts to mine forming many small circular blotches over the leaf. Pupates within the case, attached to a leaf.
