Resident. A local but widespread species found throughout Britain.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2010 at Llanfyllin in the north of the county. This was only the ninth record for north Wales.

Wingspan :   M & F, 11-13.5mm.

C. solitariella.




Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine.)


Habitat

Two main habitats; open woodland, hedgerows; and coastal cliffs.

Foodplant

Mainly greater stitchwort and sea campion.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner/Case-bearing. Eggs laid on leaf. Larva forms blotch mine, then a case which from which it feeds. Pupates in the case low down attached to a stem of the foodplant.
