Resident. Widespread with scattered populations throughout the British isles
First recorded in 2013 at Llanymynech Rocks in the north-east of the county.
Wingspan : M & F 7-8mm.
Many species of Elachista are extremely similar, great care should be given when separating these species.

(Bivoltine possibly trivoltine.)
Well drained open grassland, prefers calcareous ground.
Annual meadow grass.
Leaf miner. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva mines the leaf. Pupates in a whitish cocoon on the underside of a dead leaf.
