Resident. Widespread and common throughout the British Isles except northern Scotland where it is absent.

Montgomeryshire Status

Recorded from a few scattered sites in the northern half of the county.

Wingspan :   M & F, 12-15mm.

Habitat

Woodland, hedgerows and gardens.

Foodplant

Dead bark.

Lifestage data

Eggs laid on food source. Larva move around in silken tubes feeding as they do so. Pupates in a firm silken cocoon in its feeding place.
