UK Status Resident. A common species throughout the Britain as far north as Inverness-shire. Montgomeryshire Status Probably more common than the records suggest. Wingspan : M & F, 14-19mm. Confusion species A quite distinctive species. |

(Univoltine.)  Habitat Grassland, downland and wasteland. Foodplant Common knapweed or Saw-wort. Lifestage data Seed miner. Eggs laid on the foodplant. Larva burrows amongst seeds and below the seeds and feeds within. Pupates in a light-brown silken cocoon at the base of the seed capsule. |
