Resident. A common and widespread species found throughout Britain.

Montgomeryshire Status

First recorded in 2012 at Middletown in the east of the county. This was only the seventh record for north Wales.

Wingspan :   M & F 10-14mm.

Other species of Scrobipalpa.
Flight time & Voltinity (Bivoltine)

Habitat

Rough meadows, parkland, wasteland, fens and downland.

Foodplant

Thistles.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva feeds in the lower leaves making a brownish branched mine which can sometimes form into a blotch. Pupates in the leaf litter on the ground.
