UK Status Resident. Widespread and common throughout Britain as far north as Aberdeenshire. Montgomeryshire Status Recorded from two sites in the eastern side of the county at Welshpool and Llanfyllin. Wingspan : M & F, 14-15mm. Confusion species None. |

(Univoltine)  Habitat Wherever foodplant is found. Foodplant White poplar, aspen, white and goat willow Lifestage data Catkin feeder/bud miner. Eggs probably laid on a twig. Larva feeds on female catkins, when catkins are in short supply they mine buds. Pupates in a narrow cocoon covered with lichen particles. |
