Resident. Widespread and common throughout Britain as far north as Aberdeenshire.

Recorded from two sites in the eastern side of the county at Welshpool and Llanfyllin.

Lifestage data
Catkin feeder/bud miner. Eggs probably laid on a twig. Larva feeds on
female catkins, when catkins are in short supply they mine buds.
Pupates in a narrow cocoon covered with lichen particles. |
