Resident. Widespread and locally fairly common throughout the British Isles as far north as Easter Ross.

Montgomeryshire Status

Found in two widely separated sites in the county at Commins Coch and Maesmawr Hall, near Caersws.

Wingspan :   M & F, 9-12mm.

Habitat

Mainly in damp places.

Foodplant

Willowherb spp.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on the foodplant. Larva first mines a narrow gallery soon becoming an elongate blotch. Pupates in a whitish cocoon on adjacent vegetation or in leaf litter.
