UK Status Resident. Common in southern England and Wales becoming scarce in the north and very rare in central Scotland. Montgomeryshire Status Found at two sites in the county at Commins Coch and Llanfyllin. Wingspan : M & F, 7-11.5mm. Confusion species M. sturnipennella. |

(Univoltine)  Habitat Wherever foodplant is found. Foodplant Willowherb spp. Lifestage data Seed miner. Eggs laid on the foodplant. Larva enters an unripe seed pod and feeds within. Pupates in a sticky whitish cocoon amongst detritus on the ground. |
