Resident. Widespread and common throughout the British Isles as far north as Aberdeenshire.

Montgomeryshire Status

Recorded in the west of the county at Commins Coch in 2006, and in the east of the county at Llanfyllin in 2010.

Wingspan :   M & F, 10-11mm.

Wherever foodplant is found.

Foodplant

Hawthorn.

Lifestage data

Fruit miner. Eggs probably laid on young berries. Larva mines into the fruit feeding within. Pupates in a double cocoon in rotten wood or the soil.
