Resident. Widespread and locally common throughout England and Wales as far north as Durham, becoming more scarce in the north.

Montgomeryshire Status

Fairly common in the north of the county.

Wingspan :   M. 17-22mm. F. 16-19mm.

Lifestage data

Root feeder. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva burrows into the root of the plant and feeds within. Pupates spun up in a cocoon of earth and silk in the root or nearby.
