UK Status Resident. Widespread and generally common throughout the British Isles as far north as Perthshire. Montgomeryshire Status Recorded from two sites in the north of the county at Lake Vyrnwy and Llanfyllin. Wingspan : M & F, 13-17mm. Confusion species None. |

(Univoltine)  Habitat Woodland, parks and commons. Foodplant Birch. Lifestage data Catkin feeder. Eggs, oviposition site not documented. Larva feeds inside a catkin. Pupates in whitish silken cocoon in larval habitation or spun up in leaf litter on the ground. |
