Resident. Locally common throughout the British Isles.

Fairly common and found at several scattered sites throughout the county.

Wingspan :   M & F, 12-14mm.

Confusion species

E. tetraquetrana.
Flight time & Voltinity (Bivoltine)

Habitat

Woodland, heathland and wet places.

Foodplant

Alder and birch.

Lifestage data

Catkin feeder/leaf roller. Eggs, oviposition site unknown. Larva, first generation feed inside catkins and buds, the second generation roll leaves and feed within. Pupates in a silken cocoon amongst the litter.
