Resident. Widespread and locally common throughout the British Isles as far north as Perthshire.

Montgomeryshire Status

Recorded from scattered sites, in the north of the county.

Wingspan :   M & F, 15-20mm.

Confusion species

E. rosaecolana.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Open woodland and hedgerows.

Foodplant

Hawthorn.

Lifestage data

Spinning. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva spins the terminal leaves and feeds within, usually high up. Pupates in a loosely spun cocoon in larval habitation.
