Resident. Widespread but very local and not very common in England, even more uncommon in Wales and Scotland.

Montgomeryshire Status

Recorded once in the north-east of the county at Asterley Rocks in 2005.

Wingspan :   M & F, 9-12mm.

Confusion species

D. acuminatana.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)

Habitat

Rough meadows, pasture and roadside verges.

Foodplant

Oxeye daisy.

Lifestage data

Stem feeder. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva lives and feeds in the stems causing a slight swelling of the stem. Pupates spun up in larval feeding place or in an earthen cocoon.
