Resident. Widespread and locally common throughout Britain as far north as southern Scotland.

Montgomeryshire Status

A fairly common species on the extreme east and west of the county.

Wingspan :   M. 18-19mm. F. 22-24mm.

Habitat

Ponds, ditches and reed-beds.

Foodplant

Duckweed.

Lifestage data

Aquatic. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva forms a case constructed from the foodplant, from which it feeds. Pupates just below the water surface in dense white silken cocoon attached to foodplant.
