Resident. A very local and uncommon species in England and Wales.

Montgomeryshire Status

The first record of this uncommon species was made at Newtown in 1989 and then it was not recorded again until 2011 at Llanymynech Rocks (see pic below).

Wingspan :   M & F, 18-23mm.

Confusion species

T. sauvella. T. advenella.
Flight time & Voltinity (Univoltine)


Habitat

Found in hedgerows and scrub.

Foodplant

Blackthorn.

Lifestage data

Spinning. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva makes a web in the twigs which looks like a piece of wool. Pupates in the web in a brownish/grey cocoon.
